St Augustine’s is a Catholic secondary school of approximately 950 students situated in the west of the City of Edinburgh. Its catchment area encompasses five Catholic primary schools extending from South Queensferry in the north to Balerno in the south. However, as a result of parental choice, our current S1 contains students drawn from 31 primaries.

St Augustine’s stresses the importance of high levels of achievement for every student and there is a strong sense of community within the school. All staff of St Augustine’s, teaching and non-teaching, are prepared to make a positive contribution to the school as a whole and to play their part as members of the St Augustine’s community.

The post is in a busy school as part of the support staff for a variety of depts. Emphasis is on getting the best possible outcome for each of our students so an enjoyment of working in a High School setting while having excellent administration skills are welcome qualities for applicants. Knowledge of Word, Excel, Oracle, email and, if possible, SEEMiS are key skills too. 1st Aid qualification would be an advantage as some duties are in the sick bay.

As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.

To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This new way of interviewing will allow us to assess how you think and how you would bring Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity and Flexibility into your ways of working.

We're committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits that a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds brings to us as an organisation.

You can find out more on Our Behaviours web page Our Behaviours – The City of Edinburgh Council

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
