Job Description

Place

Senior Transport Team Leader (Parking Controls)
Waverley Court

Salary: £42,717 - £50,550
Hours: 36 per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Network Management and Enforcement for the permanent appointment of a full-time Senior Transport Team Leader to lead the Council’s Parking Controls Team.

Fulfilling a key role within the Parking and Traffic Regulation service area, the successful candidate will be highly motivated and enthusiastic and will be able to progress a challenging and varied workload. The post currently has direct line management responsibility for the 3 * Gr7 Transport Officers / Engineers, 2 * Gr6 Inspectors and 1 * Gr6 Transport Technician (two part-time posts).

The post holder will be responsible for managing the implementation of new parking restrictions across the city and will take on direct responsibility for leading the Council’s Strategic Review of Parking. Although the review is well underway, significant work is still required to take forward the remaining phases, including further reports to the Transport and Environment Committee, and to consider the results of the ongoing monitoring exercises and whether further phases may be required.

The post holder will also be responsible for new Council projects within the Parking and Traffic Regulation service, including the introduction of parking controls at off-street car parks, and for the consideration of proactive controls in areas of the city with significant development activity planned. All of these projects will require the management of significant budgets and consultancy support, particularly in relation to public consultations and engagement.

Whilst the Strategic Review of Parking provides the foundation for considering new Controlled Parking Zones, the Parking Controls team are also responsible for managing requests for significant numbers of new yellow line restrictions from across the city and for managing the Council’s Disabled Persons Parking Places and Access Protection Marking services.

The successful candidate should have experience of leading teams and/or projects. They will be able to maintain high levels of accuracy, and to balance competing priorities in order to meet challenging deadlines. They will also have excellent written and verbal skills and will be experienced in successfully managing and resolving sometimes difficult customer interactions.

If you think you have the necessary skills, we would love to hear from you.
