Citywide

Salary: £40,501 - £47,639 (pro-rata for part time)
Hours: 18 per week, 52 weeks

Two positions available:

Justice Pathways Service (JPS) + Community Intervention Service for Sexual Offending (CISSO)

Two parttime (18-hour) social worker positions have become available in the above teams, both of which would suit people interested in furthering their professional development. We welcome applications from suitably qualified people interested in either or both posts. Candidates will have a degree in Social Work and be registered, or eligible to register, as a social worker with the SSSC.

JPS delivers a range of interventions such as Diversion from Prosecution, Structured Deferred Sentences and Community Payback Orders. The overall remit of the team is to deliver a service that is responsive to the risks and needs of men affected by complex trauma and/or substance use. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of a relatively newly formed team, who are keen to form new partnerships and innovative ways of promoting positive change in people's lives. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Assessment and report writing
  • Supervising and responding to service users in the community and in custody
  • Contributing to multi agency risk and safety planning and management
  • Development and delivery of groupwork programmes

CISSO is a specialist team who work with adults who have been convicted of sexual offences. Although based in Edinburgh, CISSO provides a service to clients from East and Midlothian, Edinburgh, and the Scottish Borders. Some work takes place with clients in their local area, requiring travel across Lothian and Borders. There is a strong focus on groupwork delivery in the team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Case consultation and joint assessments with justice social work staff, including contributing to court and other assessment reports.
  • Delivering a range of group and individual interventions, including MF2C, alongside an adapted group for men with additional learning needs, and a programme for men convicted of internet-mediated offences
  • Providing practice development sessions and training for justice social work and other professional staff groups

Candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a good understanding of National Outcomes and Standards and public protection, be willing to work in a dynamic environment and to contribute to an inclusive culture that values and respects diversity and lived experience.

Edinburgh Justice Services are committed to providing high-quality services and ensuring a compassionate approach to people who use our services, and to supporting staff wellbeing. We offer a high level of training to support continuous professional development and to deliver a broad range of interventions.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce where everyone feels valued and able to be their best. We particularly encourage applications from women for senior roles, as well as people from minority ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities or neurodivergent people, care experienced people, carers and LGBT+ people across all levels of the organisation, all of whom are currently underrepresented. All applicants will be considered fairly based on skills and experience. Disabled and care-experienced applicants who meet the minimum job criteria will be guaranteed an interview.
