Adult Literacy & Numeracy Support Worker, Stornoway (10150)
16 hours per week, fixed term to 31 March 2027
£14,101 - £15,411 per annum, inclusive of £1,296 per annum Distant Islands Allowance

The post holder will provide adult literacy and numeracy support in the Western Isles Learning Shop and be part of the Adult Learning Team. Duties will include completing initial interviews and assessments with new learners; undertaking one-to-one tuition with learners; facilitating learner drop-in sessions; providing guidance support to learners; and organising and development learning resources.

The post holder will have successful experience of teaching literacy and numeracy in formal or informal settings along with demonstratable knowledge of teaching methods appropriate to the needs of adults. It is essential you have knowledge of a variety of approaches to adult numeracy learning and tutoring and the principles of adult literacy & numeracy work. You must have the ability to communicate effectively with learners from a variety of backgrounds along with the ability to work in partnership with other agencies.

The post holder will be required to work irregular hours.

This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme as a legal requirement of a regulated role with Children (Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme - mygov.scot).

Interviews will be conducted in person, providing candidates with the chance to personally meet the team and experience our work environment.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of the grade.
