Job Description

You will engage in all aspects of mechanical repair, maintenance and associated works of the Comhairle’s Garage Services. Duties include:  carrying out repairs, overhauls, scheduled servicing, recovery and all aspects of general vehicle maintenance associated with the Comhairle’s fleet.

Requirements

You must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence or equivalent and have a good working knowledge of municipal vehicles and health and safety in the workplace.  In addition, you must have:  previous experience of working with a wide variety of vehicles;  the ability to undertake all aspects of vehicle service, maintenance, repairs and MOT preparations for heavy vehicles and plant;  the ability to work as part of a team to ensure that daily tasks are completed;  good written and oral communication skills;  a full, unrestricted driving licence;  the ability to undertake physically demanding work, repairing heavy diesel vehicles whilst keeping them in service.

Salary for the above post is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance.  Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression.
