Belmont Primary School in Stranraer currently comprises 11 mainstream classes, a Learning Centre with two classrooms supporting children with severe and complex needs, and a Nursery/ELC setting. We are committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn. Our dedicated staff work in close partnership with supportive families, who play an active role in the life of the school.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and motivated Depute Headteacher to help lead our established team on a temporary basis until August 2027. The successful applicant will have experience of leading and managing key aspects of school improvement and will demonstrate a strong breadth of teaching skills and practice across different stages. As a member of the School Leadership Team, they will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and leading curricular development.

This position may be suitable for a Secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis.
Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
