We are recruiting for an Economic Development Officer (EDO) to join the Business Gateway Service based in Dumfries and Galloway.

 

As an EDO your role will be to develop, co-ordinate and implement local, regional and placed based Economic Development strategies and programmes that will maximise sustainable economic benefits to Dumfries and Galloway.

 

The role holder will have a particular focus on supporting the growing tourism sector in the region and help the Council and partners contribute towards the activities contained in the South of Scotland Responsible Tourism Strategy which aims to grow the visitor economy sustainably while supporting communities, jobs, and environmental stewardship.

 

We would welcome applications from those who have experience in the delivery of economic development initiatives in a public / private or rural setting. The role holder will have experience of working with a wide range of organisations including public sector bodies, community groups, businesses and a wide range of external agencies in delivering projects and programmes. We believe in developing and supporting our staff and training can be provided to strengthen the skills of new team members.

 

You will be working in a welcoming team who have a broad and detailed understanding of the local economic climate within Dumfries and Galloway and who work closely with a wide range of private sector businesses and partners to ensure all sectors of the economy are supported to grow and develop.                                                                

 

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
