Salary for 36 hours per week: £40,470 - £43,437
Salary for 26 hours per week £29,228.33 – £31,371.17
Salary for 7 hours per week £7,869.17 - £8,446.08
This is a fantastic new opportunity within the Trading Standards team. There is a total available budget for 79 hours per week. This could be two full time (36 hours) posts and a third post of 7 hours per week or three 26 hours per week posts or any other combination within the available budget.
Based in either the Dumfries or Stranraer office - ideally, we would like to appoint people in both offices but will compromise this for the right candidates.
We are seeking enthusiastic people who can work independently to join our Trading Standards team. This is a dynamic role where you will be trusted to work on your own initiative, supported by experienced colleagues.
You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with consumer protection legislation, providing professional advice, and taking appropriate action where necessary.
Key responsibilities include the delivery of the team plan though inspection of trading activities to check compliance, giving advice to businesses and investigating potential offences.
Good inter-personal skills will be required to provide the best level of customer service possible, working well under pressure to meet demands.
The right candidate will have a knowledge of key legislation and be confident in the day-to-day use of digital systems.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
