Never has there been a more exciting time to take on this executive leadership role within Dumfries and Galloway Council.  We are ambitious for our region, focused on supporting our communities to thrive and prosper and ensuring that we provide quality services and better outcomes for the citizens and communities in Dumfries and Galloway. 

As a member of the Council’s Senior Leadership team, you will work closely with other Chief Officers and Elected Members to deliver the Council’s vision and ambition for our region. You will lead Council wide programmes of change, promote and encourage collaborative working within a one-Council approach, and work to support the financial sustainability of the Council and address future challenges.  

Importantly you will have responsibility for the strategic leadership of the new Economy and Infrastructure Directorate and building and enabling a culture of collaboration, empowerment and support to our workforce to enable them to flourish, deliver a high standard of customer service and continue to make a difference to the lives of our citizens.

We are looking for a strong and inspiring leader with a track record of success at a senior level within a complex organisation. You should be educated to degree standard or equivalent.   

You will demonstrate the ability at a senior level of systems leadership, effective delivery and management of change and the design and delivery of strategic policies to improve organisational performance and realise strategic ambitions. 

You will also be able to evidence effective use of resources, robust financial management, strong customer focus, excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills and partnership and collaborative working arrangements with a wide range of stakeholders and national partners to deliver the best outcomes.
