Revenues & Benefits, Enabling & Customer Services, has responsibility for (amongst other things) Local Taxation recovery, Benefit administration and Welfare support.
This post is full-time, permanent, and based in Dumfries. You will be required to work 36 hours per week during normal office hours from Monday to Friday.
You will be responsible for 4 staff.
You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of support functions within the Revenues, Benefit and Welfare environment.
These include:
- Issuing of benefit determination notices (Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Scottish Welfare Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments)
- Issuing recovery notices (bills, reminders, final notices, and summary warrants) for Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rates.
- Scheduling key systems’ tasks relating to benefit payment and Council Tax recovery action on the service’s core processing applications.
- Amending Council Tax records to indicate the taxpayers’ chosen method of payment including the processing of paperless direct debit instructions.
- Producing files to be processed via BACS for Direct Debit Deductions for Council Tax.
- Sending and receiving files electronically via BACS and be AUDDIS and ADDACS compliant
This post also undertakes small to medium-sized projects throughout the year.
You will also be required to provide resilience for other functions within Revenues & Benefits. These include:
- Providing user, maintenance, and development support for Northgate (iWorld, NES), Civica (W2), Capita (Axis Income Management, paye.net, Axis Online Services), CARS and other applications as appropriate.
- Undertaking Housing Benefit and Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) payment runs where customer entitlements are transmitted through BACS.
- Completing reconciliations and statistical returns.
You should be educated to SCQF Level 6 (Higher) or equivalent and have 2 years’ experience working within either a Revenues or Benefits related environment.
You must have experience of operating computer-based information systems and knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing and database systems.
