Transfer Station and HWRC Supervisor West

Duties will include: -
 
•    Day to day operation (including weekends and bank holidays) of the three recycling facilities in the West of the region.
•    To work closely with the HWRC Manager West to ensure that the 3 sites operate following all Health & Safety and Council Procedures.
•    Assist with the preparation and subsequently maintain site systems, standards and procedures to ensure overall compliance with relevant legislation, best practice and Council policies. 
•    Assist and deputise for the HWRC Manager West in the overall management of the 3 recycling facilities in the West of the region 
•    To ensure that all Household Waste Recycling Centres, and all operations at the Stranraer Zero Waste Park are suitably inspected and maintained at appropriate levels for safe and efficient site operations on a day-to-day basis.
•    To organise and oversee all waste movements across all 3 sites.
•    Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of procedures and operating systems, and the management activities and personnel to ensure compliance with Council’s Waste Management Licences and other relevant legislation at the three sites.
•    Be responsible for the effective working and discipline of the workforce to ensure compliance with the Health and Safety regulations.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for recruitment within Communities. We deliver a wide variety of frontline services and require a HWRC Supervisor for the West of the region base at our depot in Stranraer.

You will be required to perform various duties as instructed by the Transport Supervisor and have a working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements. You will be required to work as a team member.

You will be educated to SCQF Level 4. A full valid current driving license is essential and Category C license is desirable. Candidates without a category C license must undergo training and obtain a full category C license within 6 months of start date.
