This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with local sports clubs, Community Sport Hubs, volunteers and partners to create inclusive, sustainable and thriving sporting clubs and hubs and creating more opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. As part of our Active Dundee team, you will support the growth and long-term sustainability of community sport by building strong partnerships, developing local capacity and helping to remove barriers to participation. You will contribute to creating welcoming environments where individuals and communities can connect, develop skills, improve wellbeing and enjoy the benefits of being active. Location and Working Pattern This post is based within a hybrid working arrangement, combining home working with office-based work at Central Library, Level 3. The post is for 37 hours per week and includes flexible working arrangements, with regular evening and occasional weekend work required to support clubs, communities and partner organisations. Requirements

HND/SVQ4 or equivalent in a sports development field and/or work-related experience.

Responsibilities

To strengthen community sport across Dundee by supporting Community Sport Hubs and local sports clubs to become strong, safe, sustainable and inclusive organisations. The postholder will work with clubs and partners to develop effective structures, systems and support mechanisms that enhance governance, sustainability and long-term development. The Club and Community Officer will lead the development and delivery of Community Sport Hubs and club development initiatives across Dundee, aligning activity with national priorities, sportscotland principles and the Active Dundee Business Plan. The role will focus on building the capacity of sports clubs, increasing participation opportunities, improving governance and promoting inclusivity, particularly among underrepresented groups. Working collaboratively with Active Schools, community organisations, national governing bodies and key partners, the postholder will help create clear pathways into sport and physical activity, ensuring opportunities are accessible, welcoming and contribute positively to health, wellbeing and community outcomes across Dundee.

The Individual

You will have experience of supporting the development of sports clubs, community organisations or participation programmes, with a strong understanding of the role community sport plays in improving health, wellbeing and community outcomes. Experience of working with volunteers, sports clubs, community groups and partner organisations to achieve shared objectives is essential. You will have experience of developing and implementing plans, managing projects, supporting budgetary processes and promoting opportunities through effective marketing and communication. A sound understanding of sports club governance, organisational development and sustainability is also required. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience of engaging underrepresented groups in sport and physical activity, including disabled people, inactive young people, families experiencing poverty and individuals facing barriers such as confidence, cost, transport or lack of awareness. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships, influence and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong presentation and facilitation skills are essential, along with the ability to motivate and inspire others. You will be highly organised, able to prioritise competing demands and manage your workload effectively, while working both independently and as part of a team. Good financial management skills, marketing and publicity skills, and experience of using Microsoft 365 applications, including Teams, Word and Excel, are also required. Above all, you will be enthusiastic, proactive and passionate about strengthening community sport and creating opportunities for more people to participate in sport and physical activity across Dundee.
