Requirements

​You will have a degree in a relevant subject area, e.g. Education, Therapy (SLT / OT) or relevant Technology (IT, computing, engineering etc) areas, or equivalent Assistive Technology working knowledge gained in a relevant education, health, social care or third sector context.

Responsibilities

This post is responsible for the strategic design, implementation, and management of sector wide project work associated with Assistive Technology (Atech) innovation. This includes working in partnership with partners in industry and academia to achieve project aims. The project aims include enabling pupils to be more independent and reduce the need for more expensive care sector costs when pupils leave education. The postholder will measure the benefits to prove the case for further investment in ATech.

The Individual

​You will have experience of working in an educational context to train or support students and other staff, experience of the application of technology to support learning, direct experience of assistive technology / ATech and AAC (Alternative Augmentative Communication) Technology, preferably backed up by recognised qualifications or vendor training and experience of working in IT, EdTech and AT support. You will have strong leadership ability and experience of leading colleagues to complete projects, the ability to research for information and resources and to analyse data to monitor the effectiveness of a policy and process. You will have the ability to use applications such as Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint to deliver the production of a professional standard documentation, strong skills in organisation and prioritisation of tasks and time and understanding of team working skills and approaches. You will have evidence of technical skills in information technology and preferably assistive technology, evidence of keeping up with technological trends and progression, the ability to record work accurately and evidence of basic software troubleshooting skills, including experience of current versions of Windows., Mac OS, iOS etc. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will require to join the PVG Scheme to undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
