Mechanical Street Driver (Large)

Requirements

You will have basic numeric and reading/writing skills. You will hold a current Category C driving licence, comply with Driver CPC requirements and Digital Tachograph card.

Responsibilities

You will drive allocated Large mechanical sweeper and carry out all street sweeping on roadways, footpaths, all other open spaces and cemeteries as required. You may also be involved in operating a number of different vehicle types within the city including vans, cage vehicles and electric vehicles carrying out a full range of Street Cleansing tasks across the city.

The Individual

You will have good communication skills. Experience in the operation of mechanical road sweeping vehicles or comparable specialist plant or willing to work towards this, experience of adhering to method statements/traffic management procedures and the ability to carry out daily vehicle inspections, routine cleaning, and report defects in accordance with council procedures is essential. You will have the ability to work with minimal supervision and interact appropriately with members of the public, and work under own initiative. Flexibility to be involved in all aspects of street cleaning operation, flexible approach to working hours, including early starts and weekend working is also essential. You will be willing to undergo training and have the ability to meet DVLA Category C licence medical standards for professional drivers.
