You will have a relevant degree or equivalent and working towards MRICS status.Responsibilities
You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver Capital Projects and provide a quantity surveying and cost management consultancy service to the Council, its service departments and to external public agencies, as directed by the Senior Manager for Capital Projects/Cost and Project Management (CP/CPM).
You will provide a high quality, flexible and responsive service to ensure that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and meet the quality and operational requirements of the client department.The Individual
You will have a proven record in quantity surveying, cost and project management in a variety of construction projects, combined with experience of budgetary cost forecasting, cash flow and fee management and of partnership and collaborative working.
You will have experience of CDM/Risk Assessment and knowledge of the legislative framework, the Scottish Government and national agenda to ensure the Council meets its’ commitments.
You will have good oral and written communication skills with the ability to solve problems and have good attention to detail. You will demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to form positive relationships at all levels.
You will have clear analytical skills to allow the exploration, evaluation and interpretation of information and opinions. You will have strong decision-making skills with the ability to make decisions and recommendations based on the analysis of options, sound risk management principles and contingency planning, within financial, legal and ethical frameworks.
You will have the capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines, satisfy political objectives and organisational priorities and have the ability to work outwith normal working hours as the post requires.
