Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and committed addiction worker to join the East Dunbartonshire Health & Social Care Partnership’s Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service on a temporary full-time basis. Fixed term contract for 2 years.

The post is based within the Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre.

The Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services is a well-established, integrated, and experienced team, which is co-located within an integrated care setting, providing the full range of health and social care services.

East Dunbartonshire Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Service provides a range of health and social care services to adults requiring support and treatment for alcohol and drug issues, providing a responsive, flexible, recovery outcome focussed service to the residents of East Dunbartonshire. 

The successful candidate will undertake duties including assessment, support, and care planning for service users and will undertake specialist assessments to identify the needs of service users and co-ordinate and deliver recovery outcome focussed interventions and service provision in line with National and local policies and procedures, including the MAT standards. Experience and a working knowledge of the relevant policies and procedures to support adults with problematic alcohol and drug use is essential.

The successful candidate will support the alcohol and drug recovery service in its day-to-day operation and will work closely with health and social work colleagues within the team to promote integrated working and a holistic service and contribute to the meeting of all internal and external targets such as waiting times to promote the continuous improvement of service delivery and performance of the alcohol and drug recovery service. We promote family inclusive practice and assessment of risk to children is a key responsibility for the addiction worker.

This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with relevant experience or qualifications in alcohol and drugs, offering a varied and diverse range of experience across all aspects of social care practice within our Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service which is an established integrated team. The work mainly focuses on specialist assessment, care management, and prescription management for opioid substitution therapy and protective medications etc.

Applicants will be recovery orientated in their approach, have experience of practice within alcohol and drug recovery services and an understanding of the relevant policies and legislation. Experience or qualifications in alcohol and drugs preferred.

You will need to hold a driving licence.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

 

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria.

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
