Job Summary

East Dunbartonshire Council’s Housing Service is looking for a Lead Tenancy Rent Deposit Assistant to:

• Assist with the management and development of the lead tenancy scheme to enable adequate provision of temporary accommodation to homeless households and to avoid the use of unsuitable accommodation ensuring that we achieve key performance indicators as set by the Scottish Government.

• Ensure that we adhere to the lease agreement and review the need for further lead tenancies in line with our temporary accommodation strategy

• Liaise with landlords to ensure that lead tenancy properties satisfy appropriate standards/legislation

• Develop and promote the Rent Deposit Guarantee/Private Sector Scheme and assist households to secure settled accommodation

• Provide housing options advice to households looking to secure accommodation in the private sector i.e. advice on Private Residential Tenancy agreements, affordability including advice on the local housing allowance rates etc

• Support applicants to identify, view and secure private accommodation to resolve their homelessness/housing situation

• Support the performance of the team through a culture of team work and flexibility, contributing to the overall success of the Council

• Work to continuously improve service delivery and performance of the team You should ideally have a knowledge of housing/housing options/homelessness policies, procedures, legislation, and guidance.. Be capable of undertaking research, be self-motivated, flexible and customer/team focused.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria

Where the post you are applying for is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by HR Services Lead.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
