Working between Monday - Friday, 09:00-17:00, may be required to work evenings/weekends as and when required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Community Development Officer to join East Lothian's Connected Communities team in Fa'side. The post is for a fixed term period of 9 months, working 28 hours per week, face to face from our local office in Tranent. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in a fantastic local community in East Lothian. You will do this by connecting with our local communities, working with them and a range of partners and stakeholders, to facilitate and support the delivery of local priorities contained in the Fa'side Area Partnership - area plan and our service plan. This will allow the successful candidate to empower our local communities and work preventively to help reduce inequalities and tackle the impacts of poverty.

Candidates who are successful for interview will be provided with a scenario and asked to completed a presentation to the interview panel. Interviews will take place on Monday 19th August 2024 at the George Johnstone Centre, 35 Winton Place, Tranent, EH33 1AE.

Job Details

To promote and develop a responsive and inclusive Connected Communities Service working as part of a team working within a designated local area. Work with local partners and stakeholders to promote community empowerment and work preventatively to help reduce inequalities.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to degree level in Community Education or equivalent level in a relevant subject and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through previous experience.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
