Join the Dr Bruce Fund Board as an Independent Member

Are you passionate about supporting charitable work in East Lothian? The Dr Bruce Fund is seeking a lay member of the public to join its Board of Trustees. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the governance and future direction of a local charitable trust that awards grants to individuals and organisations in need.

This post is not remunerated but expenses will be reimbursed. The maximum time commitment will be around 1-2 hours per month.

The appointment will be made by East Lothian Council and will be in place until December 2027.

About the role

  • Help oversee the fund’s activities and ensure proper financial stewardship of public funds
  • Support effective governance and arrangements for securing best value
  • Distribute funds as per the Dr Bruce will governance requirements
  • No prior experience in finance or charity governance is required — just a commitment to public service and community values.
