This is an exciting opportunity for a Transport Planner to play a lead role in the development of the County and to join East Lothian Council, Roads Services.

You will have significant knowledge and experience in the management of active travel projects. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who will work with a variety of partners, customers, and clients on the delivery of a professional service that maximises resources and delivers positive outcomes.

You will be business and customer focused with a demonstrable record of, identifying opportunities, achieving outcomes, managing change, and exercising strong leadership skills. You will be self-motivated with a flexible and collaborative approach to work and have the ability to cope with multiple and changing demands whilst meeting tight deadlines. You will also have a good understanding and knowledge of transportation policy, legislation, and initiatives at local, regional, and national levels.

With excellent organisational and IT skills, you will be able to utilise various Microsoft Office packages, and be a clear written and verbal communicator, with the ability to analyse information and produce reports and with experience of presenting information in public forums.

You will be joining a dynamic and flexible team within Infrastructure and Transportation. You will be required to travel throughout East Lothian and within the Lothians to undertake the duties of this post.

Job Details

To use skills as an experienced Projects Officer within the Engineering and Building Standards Section. To be responsible for allocated building alteration and adaptation projects and their budgets. To oversee planned remedial work on a wide range of Council assets.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Educated to HNC or SQA (Level 3) in relevant property or construction discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
