Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year).  Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay:  £13.80 - £14.78

This is a 41 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time, school in-service days, plus 2 additional weeks during the school holidays.

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Friday, 08:00-16:00
To start 14th August 2023.

Musselburgh Grammar School is vibrant and ambitious secondary, serving the town of Musselburgh and the village of Whitecraig. We are in an exciting period of change and the opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, creative and forward thinking Pupil Support Worker to join our Pupil Support Faculty. The successful applicant will support the work of the guidance team. The role will combine a pupil facing role with administrative duties to support the Child Planning Framework and ensure best outcomes for pupil within the universal and additional levels of support. The pupil facing responsibilities will include being a first point of contact for pupils, parents and carers, assisting day-to-day pupil needs and to provide support to pupils to achieve set targets. The successful applicant will co-ordinate and lead pupil interventions on a 1:1 and group work basis. Administrative duties will include generating reports on attendance, attainment, receiving and making phone calls, organising meeting diaries and supporting referrals to outside agencies. This post will also involve the co-ordination of the alternative qualification programme for pupils at risk of not attaining a minimum of 5 qualifications.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
A minimum of SVQ1/Standard Grade General level English/Maths or National 4 
English/Maths or Literacy/Numeracy or Intermediate 1 Communication/Numeracy and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience
