Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay: £18.03 - £20.18
This is a 39 week sessional post i.e. working hours will be during school term time plus in-service days.

Days and Hours of Work:
Monday - Thursday, 08:15-16:15
Friday, 08:00-13:00
Starting and finishing times are flexible.
To start 2nd September 2024.

Athelstaneford Primary are looking for a highly-motivated, experienced Senior Early Year's Practitioner to help lead our nursery team. We are hoping to find someone with a strong understanding of child development and play pedagogy to support learning. The successful candidate will embody our school values of kindness, respect and co-operation and perseverance. You will be joining a nursery with 16 places for children to attend 5 days a week during the school term. You will be part of a team currently consisting of two part-time Early Years practitioners and an Early Years Support Worker. The nursery is blessed with a warm play environment and a wonderful outdoor space.

We plan to increase cross level-working next year and the team will work more closely as an Early Years Team consisting of the nursery and P1/2 class teachers. You will work closely with the Head Teacher to provide the best possible experience for our children and improve outcomes for all.

Athelstaneford Primary School is small rural school consisting of three primary classes and a nursery. We are fully dedicated to our school vision of "Learning together and having fun to be the best that we can be". You will be joining a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff who are committed to providing the best learning experience for our children and young people.

To work as part of and supervise on a day to day basis, a team of early learning and childcare practitioners, in delivering a high quality child centred service which supports the needs of children and families and enables each child to achieve their potential within a caring, safe and welcoming environment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications
You must be educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/HNC/SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent and be able to evidence additional learning and knowledge of current practice and legislation in relation to Early Learning and Childcare.

PVG/Disclosure Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
