We have an exciting opportunity for a Street Lighting Electrician to join our team in delivering a high quality service within East Lothian Council Roads Services team. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who has knowledge and experience in the inspection and maintenance of streel lighting and associated apparatus. You will participate in a range of extended infrastructure improvement programmes and on-going reactive work including general maintenance, testing and electrical repairs to street lighting systems and Roads electrical equipment, in accordance with current requirements and regulations for electrical installations. You will also oversee new street lighting installations by developers and ensure works are constructed in accordance with Road Construction consent ( RCC ). This will involve inspections and to also oversee testing and diagnostic activities.
You will assist with the operation of an Asset Management System with a view to optimising our resource and ensuring we maintain our street lighting assets in line with the Code of Practice. You will also be required to assess, review, prioritise, prepare orders and supervise/oversee works on site by the internal labour force and or external contractors ensuring works are completed in accordance with contract documentation and best practice.
The candidate will need to be confident with good verbal and written communication skills who can quickly establish good working relationships. You will also need to be IT proficient as digital technology is used daily as part of the role. You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team of Technical staff and will engage with a wide and diverse audience (Technical and non-Technical) as well as members of the public.
It is expected that the individual will be suitably educated to Scottish Joint Industry Board graded as an Electrician or Approved Electrician/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience. You will be predominantly working outside and will need to have an ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service. You will be required to take part in “out of hours” standby rota. Job Details
To carry out maintenance and installation work on East Lothian Council’s street lighting units, including illuminated traffic signs/bollards, ensuring the delivery of a high standard of work together with the effective operation and completion of all daily tasks and activities as defined.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Hold a current SJIB grade card as an Electrician or Approved Electrician.
Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*
