East Renfrewshire Council are looking to recruit for the newly created role of Fleet Utilisation Assistant to join our Transport and Fleet operations Team.

The successful candidate will be required to assist the Fleet Utilisation Officer in collating and interrogating data from a variety of fleet management digital platforms as well as manual systems with a view to implementing improvements which will significantly contribute to the councils ‘Fleet Cost Savings Strategy’ and the ‘Fleet Transformation Strategy’ as well as meeting compliance standards aimed at meeting government targets set for the councils transition to Net Zero carbon emissions.

The post holder will generally be based in the Transport Section but will also be required to work in close collaboration with all vehicle user departments, Transport Manager, Workshop Manager, Fleet Compliance team, ICT department and all external service providers.

Key tasks of this role include:

  • Interrogate all Digital Systems focussing on data accuracy, relevance of information captured and report findings to Fleet Utilisation Officer.
  • Under the supervision of the Fleet Utilisation Officer, review workshop and finance Management Systems and maximise the quality and relevance of data/info captured that might assist in  identifying shortcomings in operations such as - Excessive vehicle ‘downtime’, excessive vehicle repair times, technician’s efficiency levels, fixed maintenance charges, spare parts stock levels, invoicing process, excessive use of external contractors.
  • Report Accuracy of data gathered relating to Driver Infringements, Tachograph compliance breaches, driver behaviours to the Fleet Utilisation Officer and the Transport Manager. Ensure that full functionality of systems are being maximised in order to optimise relevant and useful data.

Experience of at least 3 years in a similar role is required, preferably gained in Fleet/Transport industry. Previous experience of digital managements systems and the ability to carry out ‘deep dive’ interrogation and analysis of ICT Systems is also required.
