Falkirk Council is seeking an ambitious and motivated Facilities Coordinator (Soft FM) to lead our Cleaning and Janitorial service provision across the school and corporate estate. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of Facilities Management, leading operational teams, driving service excellence, and supporting the delivery of essential services that directly impact our communities.

As a senior member of the Facilities Management team, you will oversee the planning, coordination and delivery of Cleaning and Janitorial services, ensuring safe, compliant, customer-focused and financially sustainable operations. You will work closely with Headteachers, Council services, contractors, trade unions and other stakeholders to deliver high standards while identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

You will:

  • Lead, manage and develop Cleaning and Janitorial teams across Falkirk Council's estate.
  • Plan, prioritise and coordinate operational workloads to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Drive service improvement, transformation projects and operational reviews.
  • Support the delivery of strategic priorities, service plans and performance targets.
  • Manage budgets and resources to ensure value for money.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation, Council policies and statutory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, operational managers, contractors and partner organisations.
  • Support emergency preparedness, business continuity arrangements and service resilience activities.
  • Lead on service redesign and modernisation initiatives that improve efficiency, compliance and customer experience.

Requirements

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a confident and capable leader who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience managing facilities, property, operational or frontline services.
  • Experience leading and motivating large and diverse teams.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience managing budgets, performance and resources.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, operational compliance and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience working within complex organisational environments.
  • The ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining high standards of service delivery.
  • Experience of partnership working, service improvement and change management initiatives.

Ideally, you will hold a degree in Facilities Management or an equivalent professional qualification and have completed IOSH, NEBOSH or similar health and safety training.

The Role

  • Position: Facilities Coordinator (Soft FM)
  • Grade: K
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Reporting to: Facilities Manager (Soft FM Services)
  • Responsible for: Cleaning and Janitorial Services
  • Location: Falkirk Council area with travel across multiple sites
  • PVG: Successful candidates will be required to gain and maintain PVG Scheme membership for working with children and protected adults.
