Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership deliver high-quality care and support to people of all ages and with varying levels of need. Your role will include supporting service users to maintain and develop their daily living skills and improve independence.
Our service operates a 24 hour service and we currently have 4 x 33-hour temporary night shift posts till march 2027. Shift patterns that will be discussed at interview.
Registration with the Scottish Social Services Council within the first 6 months of working with Falkirk Council is a requirement of the post. You will also be required to achieve an SVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care within an agreed timescale if you have not already achieved this award.
If you are the successful candidate for the role, you will be working with vulnerable adults which is considered Regulated Work under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
Registration with the SSSC is essential for this post as is the ability to maintain PVG membership. The successful applicant will have their SSSC registration covered under the paid entry costs scheme funded by the Scottish Government.
All posts involve periods of lone working.

Mobile Warden Duties
Responding to emergency requests for assistance from service users in their own homes via the MECS alarm unit.
Everyone’s emergency is different.
Requests can be assisting a service user after a fall, personal care, assistance to the toilet, repositioning etc.
We have over 3,700 service users currently on the service and we cover a wide area, from Haggs to Blackness.
Wardens respond to calls via the MECS sky response app and calls are sent to work mobile phones from the control centre, staff then accept the call and attend to the service user. Staff are provided with a mobile phone, as well as a vehicle and all other tools to support the role.
Prioritising calls – NVC, Falls, Palliative care, Personal care, Catheter care, Welfare checks
In between calls:
During the day there are diary tasks, such as changing a wrist strap, replacing a low battery pendant, resetting the alarm unit after a fault etc.
On night shift we also carry out planned care visits for service users who have just been discharged from hospital and require some support while they adjust to being back at home or who are undergoing an assessment at home to identify long term care requirements. The level of care required at these visits are variable.
Training
You will be provided with an intensive induction and training. Training will include a 3-day First Aid course, and in-depth M&H training which will include the Elk cushion. There is also a list of online courses to be completed by new staff. Training is also provided on all systems used within MECS.
Working Hours
The shifts advertised are for 4 x 33 hour night shift posts, working a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. This includes weekend and public holiday working.
