Job Details

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Social Worker in the Permanence Team in the Children and Families Service in Fife. We invite applicants with a minimum of two years post qualifying experience in a statutory Children and Families social work setting, preferably within the arena of Looked after children/Permanence.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, competent confident practitioners able to work creatively and independently with children and young people in line with The Promise, enabling them to realise their full potential whilst maintaining connections with siblings, birth family and people who matter to them.

Fife Council are committed to prioritising and achieving the best outcomes for Looked After Children where a permanent destination is required. You will be able to work creatively and directly with children and young people and their carers to provide support in a trauma informed way to facilitate meaningful and sustainable change helping children to build resilience.

The task will also involve co-ordinating and managing a cases, effectively using case recording and file management systems, and providing evidence based written reports as required including informed recommendations concerning child and young peoples plans. Good assessment skills are essential.

The Person

A diploma/degree in social work or equivalent

Knowledge of theory underpinning practice in relevant areas of social work

Experience of working with a range of professionals to deliver good outcomes for children and young people

Knowledge, understanding and experience of relevant legislation, permanence processes and procedures

Experience of planning for Looked after children and young people

Problem solving skills

IT Skills (embrace technology and information)

Knowledge and skills to practice in a way that empowers others and firmly places the child at the centre of all we do in line with The Promise

Experience of children's legal processes in Scotland

Ability to organise and prioritise a workload

Ability to travel throughout Fife and beyond if required, and work out with office hours when necessary.

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.
