Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Service Manager to join our Families for Children Team. Based in Ladywell Business Centre, the Service Manager for Families for Children (FFC) will be the registered manager of Glasgow’s fostering service, and will have responsibility for adherence to the fostering regulations and the national care standards. The Service Manager will be responsible for supporting teams of supervising social workers involved in the recruitment, assessment, approval, support and review of foster carers, and will cross cover for the adoption service as needed. The post holder will also have line management responsibility for the Placements Team. This post will also offer the opportunity to review services in line with Glasgow's Children and Families Transformational Change Programme.

Applicants must have a Health or Social Care Diploma / degree level qualification, supplemented by additional training, management qualifications, or equivalent management and leadership experience.

Only existing employees of Glasgow City Council – Social Work Services within Children's Services already employed as a Service Manager can apply for this vacancy.

These posts are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

SSSC is also a requirement for this position.

This post is temporary for a period up to 2 years.
