Glasgow Life is looking for a Clerical Assistant to join us on a 35 hours, fixed term contract for a period up to 3 years until October 2027

As a Clerical Assistant you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Museums team working on this exciting transformational project of the Peoples Palace and Winter Gardens.
The project will develop and create a community-led museum to become of one of the world’s most socially engaged and internationally significant local museums. With Glasgow’s social history at its heart, we will reintegrate the glasshouse and museum, to create a dynamic museum offer with new flexible space and facilities that meet audience needs. The building will be restored, will be more environmentally sustainable and help put the east end of Glasgow more on the tourist map.

The role
As a Clerical Assistant you’ll be an integral part of the team by supporting the Senior Admin Officer, the Admin Assistant and the Project Team in various administrative tasks. These will include Processing invoices, both creditors and debtors, accurately and timeously utilising the Company’s computerised systems; To process purchase and work requisitions etc in accordance with GCC/GL procedures; Carry out support and back-office duties as required, including preparation and issue of correspondence; Collate, update, maintain and provide management information as required; Respond to enquiries, clarifying issues and providing an informed response; Liaise with internal and external customers and partners establishing effective working relationships.

The candidate
If you’re interested in joining us as a Clerical Assistant you’ll need:
• Trained in the use of Microsoft Packages
• Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills
• Purchasing or financial experience
• Ability to relate to client/customer queries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team

Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations. e.g. This post is city wide however -Your primary location will be Albion Sr however you will also be expected to work at other Glasgow Museum venues on occasion.

Some of our roles are piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree this with you. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working.

This role is working Mon-Fri 9am-5pm
