Glasgow Life are delighted to be looking for a Family Finances Key Worker to join us on a 35-hour full time, temporary contract for a period up to 30th March 2026. As a Family Finances Key Worker, you will be joining our highly successful Family Finances Key Worker’s Approach, based within the Libraries and Communities’ Service Development Team.
The Family Finances Key Workers Approach provides 1-to-1 mentoring support to parents throughout Glasgow with the aim of increasing family income through employment and improving financial capability. This is achieved through a person-centred, multi-partnership approach dedicated to reducing and removing barriers to progression.

As a Family Finances Keyworker you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Libraries and Communities service. The service includes Glasgow’s 32 community libraries, the Mitchell Library, school libraries, community facilities, and services for early years, children and families, adult learning, inclusion and employability, and wellbeing, youth and community development. Libraries provide a cultural and creative place for all ages. They offer a place to read for pleasure and purpose, and collections which support literacy development. Glasgow's Libraries also have e-lending, author talks, book groups and festivals. People can access special collections as well as archives and family/local history. Libraries are also an important place where the digitally excluded can get online and access a range of resources. Community venues allow people to take part in a variety of cultural and sporting activities and also offer a range of learning and support services across the city. Our libraries and community facilities play a vital role in local communities and provide a wide range of programmes and activities.

The Role
As a Family Finances Key Worker you will be an integral part of the team, providing intensive 1-to-1 mentoring support to eligible parents, removing barriers to progression and ensuring that customers can access the right services and at the right time. Group work may be required on occasion. This position requires a high level of partnership working and having an enthusiastic, can-do attitude is essential.
Reporting to Family Finances Project Officer and working alongside an established team of professional Family Finances Key Workers.
The Candidate
If you’re interested in joining us as a Family Finances Key Worker, you’ll need:
• Excellent communication skills – written and oral.
• An understanding of the issues facing vulnerable adults and their families.
• Ability to engage with a range of different audiences including health, housing, employability projects and employers.
• Working knowledge of issues and support available for Financial Inclusion/Money/Welfare rights/Debt.
• Ability to build and to develop positive and productive relationships with parents and partner organisations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage client caseload.
• Ability to record customer journeys on reporting system.

Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations.
We offer hybrid working for some roles, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you, if suitable. This balance enables you to continue much-needed collaborative working.
The working hours will require flexibility and will require working weekdays, evenings and weekends as agreed with your manager.
