Job Description

Glasgow Life is looking for a Health & Wellbeing Adviser to join us on a 35 hour, full time, fixed contract for a period up to 31st July 2027. As a Health & Wellbeing Adviser you will be joining our in-demand Live Well Community Referral Team. You will be part of a dedicated team which seeks to address people’s needs in a holistic way by supporting individuals to co-create a wellbeing plan focussed on achieving goals that are most important to them. It also aims to support individuals to take greater control of their own health and wellbeing.

As a Health & Wellbeing Adviser you’ll be joining our Glasgow Life Sport team, delivering our Live Well Community Referral Programme on behalf of all Glasgow Life teams. You will play your part in encouraging people to live a healthier Glasgow life by supporting people to take part in a variety of cultural and sporting activities on their doorstep, promoting inclusion and wellbeing throughout the city.

The role
Live Well Community Referral offers a means of enabling health professionals, housing organisations, the police, social work and social care as well as a host of community organisations, to refer people to local, non-clinical services and activities. As a Health & Wellbeing Adviser you’ll be an integral part of the team by supporting people to improve their wellbeing by accessing a wide range of activities including arts classes, craft sessions, group learning, volunteering, digital support, green gyms, health walks, sports/fitness classes and book groups.
You will report to the Health & Wellbeing Development Officer and work alongside a recently established city-wide team.

The candidate
If you’re interested in joining us as a Health & Wellbeing Adviser, you’ll need:
• Previous experience of supporting individuals facing a variety of barriers to achieve goals/positive outcomes using a strengths-based and person-centered approach.
• The ability to listen effectively, display consideration and build rapport in order to support people from a wide range of backgrounds to participate in a range of wellbeing activities.
• Excellent administrative and organisational skills and be able to effectively manage a large caseload of approx.350 referrals per annum
• Have a flexible, can-do approach and be able to work comfortably in non- traditional community settings to support individuals facing a variety of barriers access the right support

Our city-wide contracts mean you will be flexible to work in any of our locations.

Some of our roles are currently piloting hybrid working, with teams working between the office and home. Your line manager will agree these days with you if appropriate to your role

This role is mainly working 9am – 5pm although some evening and weekend work may be required.

 

For Fixed Term Roles - If offer is made to internal employee (Glasgow Life or Council Family), at the end of the temporary period, eligible employees, if agreed will have a right to return to a role at their substantive grade within the council family.
