Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within Neighbourhoods, Regeneration and Sustainability for a Bereavement & Environmental Services Technician to join our Bereavements Services on a permanent basis.

Position Details

Applications are invited from motivated individuals preferably trained to FBCA/ICCM or equivalent standards with the technical ability to be trained in crematoria / cemetery operations. 

You will undertake all duties assigned in the provision of a bereavement service, assisting in the crematorium chapel, carrying out routine associated maintenance and ancillary work as determined necessary within the cities two municipal crematoria.  You must be an excellent communicator with the ability to cope in difficult situations, be flexible and open to new ways of working and be willing to undertake training and familiarity as required in order to carry out duties. 

The ability to operate plant/electronic processes competently, prior knowledge/work experience in the bereavement industry and a current driving licence are desirable. 

A shift pattern is in operation including weekends and occasional public holiday working.

Contract Details

Weekly Hours: 37 per week + an additional 5.5 hours contractual overtime

Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm or 9:30am to 6pm plus 8:30am – 1pm every second Saturday.

Annual Salary: £22,961.65 - £24,494.21 on an incremental scale

Additional Payments: In addition to the annual salary the role attracts an annual non-standard work pattern/hours (NSWPH) payment of £1,260 plus an annual working context & demand (WCD) payment of £689.
