Bereavement Services Supervisor

Job Description

Glasgow City Council is looking for a Bereavement Services Supervisor to supervise a small team of operatives and maintain the efficient running of the burial service citywide. This involves close liaison with all the associated stakeholders such as funeral directors, the clergy, contractors, etc. as well as ensuring the highest standards of customer service.

The Council carries out around 1,000 burial services each year across 32 burial grounds, the role of Bereavement Services Supervisor is an essential part of this service delivery.

The post ensures compliance with Council procedures and quality systems in cognisance of Health & Safety at Work legislation, as well as an understanding that standards of training and service delivery are kept both pertinent and innovative.

It is essential that the postholder has a full current driving licence and previous supervisory experience in an operational setting. You should also have previous practical experience in use of plant equipment, electronic processes and working to H&S guidelines and quality systems.

It would be desirable to have previous relevant training or experience in a cemeteries or crematoria environment.
