Planner

Job Description

Neighbourhood, Regeneration and Sustainability Services are seeking a collaborative and versatile planner to join at this exciting time in the transformation of national planning, helping tackle the climate and nature crisis and contribute to high quality placemaking. Based in the dynamic, multi-disciplinary planning service, this role is aimed at an early to mid-career planner who has some previous experience of working in planning practice and an up-to-date knowledge of the planning system in Scotland.

You will be part of a team reporting to a principal officer/team manager and will be responsible for supporting a range of the outcomes identified in the Planning Performance Framework for Glasgow by supporting the progress of development in priority regeneration areas of the city as defined by Glasgow City Council policy framework, in particular supporting delivery of the work programme emerging from the Strategic and Local Development Frameworks and their associated Action Plans in these priority regeneration areas; interpreting relevant national and local planning policy to shape future planning policy in Glasgow, including supporting the development of the City Development Plan 2; preparing reports for committee; participating in innovative projects that facilitate development on the ground and supporting local communities to develop their own Local Place Plans in line with relevant planning legislation.  

You must be educated to degree level in a suitable built environment subject and hold a minimum of Affiliated/Licentiate/Associate membership of the RTPI or equivalent body.

Full chartered membership of RTPI or equivalent professional body is desirable.
