Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Officer to join Glasgow City Council’s Transport Planning and Delivery Team within Neighbourhoods Regeneration and Sustainability.
The role will support the coordination, delivery and monitoring of the Council’s new Transport Strategies – which include the Glasgow Transport Strategy, the City Centre Strategy and associated People First Zone.
The role will not be limited to existing strategies and plans but also include future workstreams which have been provisioned for within the Transport Scotland Act 2019 including work on shaping bus governance and potential powers of Workplace Parking Licensing.
Importantly, we expect the successful candidate to become a key team member of the Clyde Metro project team as we further develop this major project, as well as contributing to the Glasgow City Region Bus Partnership.
Are you highly motivated and seeking opportunities to join an award winning team which is encouraging people to change the way they travel, delivering a shift away from the car towards sustainable and public transport? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
The ideal candidate will bring skills and energy together to help us transform Scotland’s largest city - ensuring we provide excellent placemaking and sustainable mobility opportunities, alongside addressing the challenges of climate change and inequalities.
This candidate must be proactive, enthusiastic, and creative; showing a keen desire to develop skills in transport planning, data analytics, stakeholder engagement, business case development and project management.
With an interest in transport policy development, combined with related knowledge and experience, and a track record in partnership working, the postholder will report directly to the Transport Strategy Group Manager and support on all delivery areas. Importantly, the successful candidate will devote a significant proportion of time to Clyde Metro and become a key team member of the team, providing support in the way of data analysis, appraisal and ongoing communications with stakeholders.
As well as strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, the role will also require excellent communication and engagement skills to support the development and delivery of the Council’s Transport workstreams, and the successful candidate will be confident in presenting to internal and external audiences.
