Salary: HC03 - HC09 £22,659 - £44,790 p.a. (Salary placing will be dependent on experience and qualifications)

Job Purpose: The Building Standards team is responsible for delivering a range of services related to both its statutory duties under the Building (Scotland) Act 2003 and also that of its verification role, to ensure the health, safety, welfare and convenience of people in and around buildings; to further the conservation of fuel and power; and further the achievement of sustainable development.
The post holder will be familiar with Verification duties relating to Compliance and Reasonable Inquiry and will contribute to the development of the Operating Framework and Key Performance Outcomes for verifiers.
The post holder will be required to inspect defective and/or dangerous buildings and take the necessary enforcement action related to these statutory functions.

Requirements
Qualifications:
a) Higher grade passes in English, Mathematics or Science or Technical subjects and,
BSc (Hons) in a construction related subject; and/or,
b) Membership of RICS/CABE/CIOB or a recognised equivalent institute.
Experience:
a) Candidates will be working within the construction industry and have knowledge of building practices and processes. and/or,
b) Several years continuous and recent experience with a Building Standards Authority with a sound knowledge and understanding of the Technical Handbooks.
Also:
Have access to personal transport; and possess a Full UK Driving Licence.
