Post Title: Highland Youth Convener
Location: Working from Home*
Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Duration: Fixed Term until 24 August 2027
Salary: £25,116 - £25,389 per annum

Salary placing will normally be at the first point of the scale.

Job Purpose: To assist in ensuring that young people’s views in Highland are being voiced in partnership with The Highland Council and Community Planning Partners. To act as a representative for young people and Highland Youth Parliament in various council and public meetings discussing issues, policies and developments which have an impact on young people. To contribute towards making the Highlands the best place in Scotland to be young. To work for a good quality of life for young people and maximum availability of services for young people’s personal, social and educational development.

* The post requires some evening and weekend work and travel to attend and represent the views of young people at meetings and events as appropriate. Laptop and smartphone provided.

Requirements

This position is classified as a regulated role. As such, an Overseas Criminal Record Check may be required depending on your nationality and recent residency history. Specifically, this check will be necessary if you do not meet both of the following criteria:

  • You must be a national of the United Kingdom or one of the following countries: Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Hungary, Greece, France, Ireland, Italy, Spain, or Poland.
  • You must not have lived or worked in any country outside of the UK or those listed above for a period of three months or more, while aged 18 years or over, within the past five years.
