Post Title: Primary Teacher - Supply
Salary: £28,113 - £42,336 pro rata

Recently, there has been some press coverage relating to a national shortage of supply teachers to cover teacher absences in schools. The Highland Council is experiencing a similar shortage, which is causing increasing difficulties for schools and staff in every part of Highland.

Shortages are currently being experienced in both primary and secondary schools and also in Gaelic Medium classes. In order to address current shortages, and to increase the number of supply teachers available, the Highland Council is interested in hearing from teachers across all geographic areas within Highland who may be willing to consider joining the Highland Council supply teacher lists. Primary and secondary teachers, including those able to teach through the medium of Gaelic, are urgently needed.

Teachers who register for supply teaching can be asked to undertake supply teaching at both short and advance notice in their local areas, and periods of supply can vary from one day to several weeks or months depending on the kind of absence to be covered. Even if teachers can only make themselves available for one day a week, or at certain times of the year, the Highland Council would like to hear from them.

This may be of particular interest to teachers who are currently not working, and who have perhaps not worked for some years. If necessary, training will be provided locally for any teachers who feel that they would benefit from this. Applications are welcome from all teachers, including any teachers currently living outside Highland but who may be available to work in Highland schools.
