An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Midlothian Libraries as a Customer Service Team Leader at Lasswade Library. Key Responsibilities

As a Customer Service Team Leader, you will develop, support and maintain community library services; ensuring that the library services delivered are of high quality and meet the needs of service users, communities, staff and wider stakeholders.

This role consists of assisting in the delivery of a comprehensive range of library services, promoting the aims of the service and taking part in a full range of activities for children and adults to help encourage literacy, learning and social inclusion through library use. We encourage applications from those with strong customer focussed approach who will contribute to ensuring that our libraries continue to be the focal point for our communities.

Day to day work will be varied and will demand a high quality of customer service at all times. Administrative tasks, supporting users to access the library appropriately, and helping with information, signposting and ICT will be commonplace. Postholders will also be involved in a full range of library events and promotional activities for adults and children, including supporting author visits, creating displays, story-telling and craft activities helping all groups to discover the joy of reading and learning. Customer Service Team Leaders will also be regularly delivering Bookbug sessions for babies and families, encouraging and supporting literacy through singing, rhymes and stories.

This role has staff management responsibility as you will manage a team to deliver high quality services throughout Midlothian Libraries.

An interest in libraries and literacy is essential.

The jobholder requires a minimum of two passes at Higher Grade Level or a vocational qualification at N/SVQ2 level or demonstrable alternative.  Previous experience of communicating with the public, resolving complex customer enquiries and demonstrable experience of working in a customer focused environment is essential. It would be desirable for the jobholder to have had working experience in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

Based on working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year, the minimum actual salary for this position is £28,984.95 per annum.
