Midlothian Council is recruiting an Equalities Officer to join the Continuous Improvement Team on a fixed term basis of two years, to support the delivery of the Council’s Transformation programme.

The successful candidate will play a key role in policy development to ensure the Council meets its equalities duties as the Council moves through a period of change, promoting an inclusive environment and supporting diversity within the workforce.

This is a dynamic, fast paced, forward thinking role with the opportunity to make a difference to how the Council delivers services that meet the needs of its diverse communities and drive forward activity that achieves the Council’s strategic outcomes and reduces poverty and inequality.

The Jobholder will be educated to degree or an equivalent level qualification and demonstrate previous experience in a similar equalities related role, with examples of supporting change projects.

Good and well-established interpersonal skills are essential as is the ability to deal with contacts up to Corporate Management Team level.

Proficiency in the use of all Microsoft Office packages is also essential to undertake statistical and financial analysis and prepare procedural documentation, option appraisals, project reports and presentations. Knowledge of local government corporate working practices, experience of policy research and/or staff development and training at a professional level, and a sound knowledge of current professional and government initiatives is also a requirement of the post.

Based on you working 36 hours over 52 weeks per year the minimum actual salary for this position is £38,058 per annum.

Requirements
