Essential
SVQ level 3 in Painting and decorating or equivalent level of qualification eg City & Guilds..
Construction Skills Certification Scheme
IOSH Working Safely or equivalent
Where the operative is required to use specific plant and equipment the post of painter requires to be trained and certified in the following equipment to allow assessment and inspection prior to the use; of ladders and steps; Power washing machinery, spray equipment, needle guns, heat guns, grinders, steam strippers and hydraulic access systems.
To be fully competent in the role the Jobholder will be required to complete the following training: Fire Awareness; Basic Safe Lifting and Handling Techniques; Asbestos Awareness; Health and Safety for Work Equipment; Working at height/using a ladder awareness/training; General risk awareness (covering risk assessments and safe systems of work); Hand arm vibration awareness; PPE awareness; Basics of CDM; Health awareness (i.e. covering Carbon monoxide, dermatitis, respiratory disease, Noise and stress); Confined space training.
A clean driving licence
The jobholder should have previous experience in the Painting and decorating trade in a maintenance environment.
Desirable
Advanced Crafts in painting and decorating or equivalent level of qualification eg City & Guilds.
The Jobholder will be required to complete the following training: Hazardous Substances; Manual Handling in a High Risk Environment; Violence at Work.

Responsibilities
