Job Description
To assist the Chargehand Cemetery and Memorial Safety Operative and Cemeteries Team Leader in providing a sensitive, efficient and effective headstone safety work programme across all cemeteries and churchyards within Moray, and to undertake, either individually or as part of a team, other cemetery duties involved in the burial of the dead and in maintaining cemeteries

Burial of the dead and associated works
Cemetery maintenance
Working respectfully and effectively with others to deliver cemetery services
The Individual
Experience of carrying out headstone safety inspections.
Experience of carrying out burials and cemetery maintenance.
Experience of operating grounds and burials vehicles, plant and equipment including mechanical excavator and lifting systems, or willingness to undertake and complete certified training
An awareness and understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
Numerate and literate as accurate record keeping is required.
Willingness to undertake and complete relevant training including, Headstone Safety, Cemetery Operatives Training Scheme, Operating lifting gantry etc.
Effective oral and written communication skills Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Attention to detail
Ability to work methodically to achieve programme timelines.
Able to read and follow detailed work instructions.
Able to operate ICT software packages and use mobile devices.
Full current driving licence
Ability to work with a respectful approach and to communicate politely and with sensitivity to members of the public, contractors, memorial masons, funeral directors etc.
Flexible attitude as some overtime working required.
Ability to accept direction and work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to work in all weather conditions to carry out heavy manual work.
