Job Description

To ensure the effective administrative functioning within the school and to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures within the school.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Teacher and Senior Management Team in introducing, maintaining and reviewing administrative policies and procedures within the school.
  • Provide appropriate financial information and administrative advice for the Head Teacher and the Senior Management Team within the school.
  • Ensure the effective management and maintenance of the Seemis Management System within the school.
  • Manage all general clerical and administrative functions within the school.
  • Adopt procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in the Council's Employee Review and Development Programme.

The Individual

  • Experience in administrative and clerical work including financial management systems, composing letters/reports, record keeping, filing and dealing with the public
  • Recognised typing / word processing qualification (eg typing RSA stages 11 or SCOTVEC Text Processing Certificates).
  • Experience of Microsoft Office including software packages such as Excel, Access).
  • High level of accuracy in work
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Ability to use initiative in day to day tasks
  • Ability to participate as a team member

  • Strong customer care skills and focus
  • Effective organisational skills including time management

The successful candidate will start in post w/c 14 August 2023

Long term temporary appointment up to 23 months.

Starting Salary: £24,278 (pro rata)
£12.88 per hour
31.75 hours per week - (47 week contract, ie term time working plus balance of days to be worked during school holiday periods)

The hours of work are: 31.75 hours per week (over the 2 roles) for 47 weeks per year during the school term. As this is 2 posts within 2 separate schools there will be 2 fixed days in each school with the remaining day split between the 2 schools as follows:-

Monday

8.30am – 12.30pm Portgordon

1.00pm – 3.20pm Portgordon

Tuesday

8.30am – 12.30pm Portknockie

1.00pm – 3.20pm Portknockie

Wednesday

8.30am – 12.30pm Portgordon

1.15pm – 3.35pm Portknockie

Thursday

8.30am – 12.30pm Portknockie

1.00pm – 3.20pm Portknockie

Friday

8.30am – 12.30pm Portgordon

1.00pm – 3.20pm Portgordon

You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between the 2 schools and there is no transport allowance payable for commuting on the split day.
