Applications are invited for the above position working within Marine Services and Transportation.
The Pier Master will participate in OIC Marine Services Safety Management System in accordance with the Port Marine Safety Code and associated plans referenced to in the Safety Management System policy document.
Duties will include instructing vessels where to berth and will assist with the berthing and sailings of vessels to and from the piers. You will also ensure that the Harbour Byelaws are complied with.
Additionally, you will have the responsibility for the safe operation and routine maintenance of the Linkspan, reporting any defects to Harbour Authority at Scapa. You will ensure the harbour premises are kept clean and tidy along with ensuring all ladders, steps and pier fendering are in good order at all times. You will also be responsible for completing and forwarding all required documentation to the Harbour Authority at Scapa as and when required.
You are required to work 22.2 hrs per week and will need to be flexible in the times that you work to ensure a presence at the pier for the arrival and departure of all vessels. Additionally, a marine background would be preferred.
You should have experience in working with the standard Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel.
You should hold a full, current driving licence to drive in the UK.
