Relief Vocational Lecturer - Maritime Engineering
UHI Orkney
Hours are offered on an as and when required basis

£24.57 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

You will be reporting to Mark Shiner. Curriculum Leader, Maritime Studies.

Your working pattern is as and when required.

The purpose of this role is facilitating learning and teaching, planning and preparing the learning experience, maintaining quality and standards, providing academic
guidance and support and undertaking professional practice and development.

The successful applicant will lead on qualifications to meet the needs of the new workboat code, offshore wind and renewables sector and other operators. They will also deliver Basic STCW courses, STCW refresher training and other short courses. Importantly they would also be involved in our growing schools’ programme. The Nav School is a friendly, supportive and motivated team, keen to welcome a new member.

Applicants should hold an SVQ, HND or other SCQF level 8 qualification in an area relevant to the curriculum remit, or have at least five years previous relevant experience. You must also hold an STCW Engineering OOW Certificate of Competency.

The successful candidate will hold a Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE) or other recognised equivalent lecturing/ teaching qualification at SCQF level 9, recognised by General Teaching Council Scotland (GTCS) for the purpose of registration, or be willing to achieve this within 3 years.

You must hold registration as a College Lecturer with GTCS, either Full or Provisional (Conditional) in line with NJNC Circular STL 02/24, or be willing to achieve this within an agreed timescale.

This post is a regulated role with children and requires Level 2 Disclosure with PVG scheme membership.
