Senior Finance Assistant, Payments

35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm
Temporary up to 9 July 2025
£29,148 - £31,265 / £15.97 - £17.13 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)

Applications are invited to the full-time temporary position of Senior Finance Assistant within the Payments Team. Part-time applications may also be considered.

The postholder will carry out tasks associated with running an efficient and effective Payments service. The main duties of the post shall include processing financial information within the accounts payable and accounts receivable systems, checking employee expense claims and completion of the weekly payment runs.

You will be an effective team member and will also be experienced in managing your own workload. You will deal with financial queries both from individuals and businesses and therefore experience of dealing with internal and external stakeholders is essential.

We are looking for someone who is educated to SVQ level 2 or equivalent level in a relevant subject or where the essential qualification is not held, a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a finance or administrative role.

Experience of using computerised systems is essential. However, training on the financial system will be provided.

The postholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme for which the employer contribution paid is currently 17%.

This post is subject to Basic Disclosure Scotland clearance.
