We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the ICT Service, within the Council’s Neighbourhood Services and Infrastructure directorate located in Kirkwall, Orkney.
The responsibilities of the postholder includes managing the ICT networking and Microsoft Systems, along with liaison and communication to end users, managers, services, external agencies, contractors, and external suppliers. The successful applicant will be required to manage the Council’s IT incident process and have a hands-on technical role supporting and maintaining the Microsoft systems and networking infrastructure for the Council’s IT assets.
We are looking for someone who has experience in managing a large Cisco networking environment over Wide and Local area networks. The successful candidate will also have experience of supporting systems like those currently in use by the Council.
The successful applicant will be experienced in working within an IT Support role and will be educated to SCQF level 8/9 in a relevant discipline or have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a relevant role.
The postholder will be eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme which is a career average revalued earnings (CARE) defined benefit scheme.
The postholder will provide an out of hours service for Orkney Islands Council for any ICT matters and during general major emergencies.
You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirements of the Service.
