We are looking for an experienced and motivated building standards professional to join us as a Team Leader within our strongly performing Building Standards Team.

You will primarily be responsible for leading a team of Surveyors, Assistant Surveyors and a Modern Apprentice, as well as working closely with the Business Support Team, other parts of the Economy, Development and Planning Team, and wider Perth & Kinross Council (PKC) Services.

Building Standards has a key role in the continued development of Perth & Kinross through an efficient and seamless development consent process with close collaboration between various service areas all to help facilitate development whilst ensuring the wide range of construction activity across our diverse urban and rural communities is designed and built to meet safety standards, further sustainable development objectives and ensure the safety of people in and around buildings.

You will also play a key role in developing staff and delivering improvements to service process and procedures to maintain existing high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.

You will work effectively as part of a team or on your own initiative to manage your team and wider workload. 

You will have excellent communication, IT and organisational skills, a commitment to quality customer care, project delivery and continuous improvement.

Requirements

To carry out this role effectively you will have a qualification in building standards or appropriate discipline, membership of an appropriate professional institute, demonstrate significant experience within a building standards environment, knowledge of the legislation and procedures related to building standards policy and practice, a full drivers licence, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work to tight timescales and familiarity with UniformIDOX.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
