Main Purpose of the Role

Working within Perth & Kinross Council is more than a job. It's about being part of an organisation that puts people at the heart of all we do and provides opportunities to make a real difference by enhancing every life we touch.

We currently have the following opportunity:

Class Teacher - PKC14394
£36,159 - £54,453
Errol Primary School, Station Road, Errol, PH2 7QB

We are seeking to appoint a permanent, part-time teacher (0.62 FTE) to deliver an inclusive curriculum tailored to meet the needs of learners with complex additional support needs. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated and committed individual to join our team at Errol Primary School. This position is based within our Intensive Support Provision (ISP), which supports pupils with complex additional support needs across two primary classes. You will job share one of the primary classes.

You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality provision for children and young people with complex additional support needs within an ISP setting. This will include working collaboratively with school staff and multi-agency partners to ensure that support is well-coordinated, responsive, and aligned with statutory duties, including the ASL Act.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Contributing to the assessment, planning and delivery of tailored learning experiences
  • Supporting the development and review of Child’s Plans, I.E.Ps and CSPs
Working closely with families and partner agencies
  • Promoting inclusive, nurturing and relationship-based practice
  • Working with pupil support assistants to build confidence and consistency in meeting additional support needs
  • You will also provide essential support, ensuring the care, wellbeing, and health and safety of all pupils.

This is an excellent opportunity for a practitioner with experience in ASN, inclusive practice, and multi-agency working who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people.

Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorship for this post.

Skills & Experience Required

We are looking to appoint a committed, nurturing class teacher to join our team at Errol ISP.

Ideally you will have experience of planning and delivering the curriculum and be able to demonstrate how to effectively differentiate to support pupils with a diverse range of complex additional support needs, as well as being confident in using the milestones for learners with complex additional support needs. Experience with working to support non-speaking learners is desirable alongside a thorough knowledge and understanding of creating an environment that promotes a ‘total communication’ approach.

Alongside high-quality teaching and learning, values, mindset and transferable skills are equally important. A genuine interest in the development of children, their communication, sensory needs and wellbeing is essential, and the important qualities are empathy, patience and an ability to engage with children and young people in a positive way.

In your role you will be leading and working with support staff and a range of multi-agency partners and parents/carers, so excellent communication skills are essential as well as effective classroom organisation and management. You will be able to demonstrate flexibility, have a positive attitude and be solution focused.

You will be able to listen to and be responsive to learner needs, be highly skilled in observation and using a variety of assessment approaches within the staged levels of intervention framework.

You will be committed to continually enhancing knowledge and skills through working collegiately and through CPD.

You will join a dedicated team at Errol who are committed to providing an excellent education for all young people and promote an ethos of inclusion.
