Development Support Worker (Fixed Term until 31 December 2025) - PKC11719
£12,754 - £13,937 (18 Hours per week)
Community Wing, Perth Grammar School

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Support Worker for School Aged Childcare within the Childcare Strategy Team.

In this post you will support the smooth running of Kids Clubs and Wraparound Care.

You will be expected to work as a member of the Kids Club Team and wider team contributing to children's learning and development within a safe and inclusive environment out with school hours in a registered childcare service.

A flexible approach to working conditions will be required to work; the contracted hours are 18 hours per week, between 2.30pm - 6pm and on a rota basis during holiday periods.

Responsibilities will include:

  • To monitor and respond to the generic email account and general enquiries regarding the service.
  • Monitor the online bookings and payments system. 
  • Liaising with colleagues in finance and respond to financial queries.
  • Promote the use of Working Tax Credit to families using the services.
  • Approve new registrations for the service.
  • Maintain and update records for the service e.g. SSSC registrations, training logs.
  • Keep records for the holiday free places.
  • Marketing of the Kids Clubs and Wraparound Care services
  • Register with the SSSC as a Practitioner to provide cover as and when required across Perth and Kinross.

Requirements

You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Day Care of Children within 3 months of commencing employment and responsible for maintaining annual membership.

You will hold a childcare qualification with one of the following: 

  • SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children & Young People)
  • HNC Childhood Practice
  • HNC Childcare Early Education and Childcare
  • SVQ Level 3 Care Learning & Development.

The Individual

We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate experience within early learning or a childcare environment with a good knowledge of childcare and the relevant governing bodies (SSSC, Care Inspectorate).  

You will demonstrate excellent planning and organisation skills; the ability to maintain office procedures and systems, establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents and carers and other professionals to ensure the effective delivery of services.
